In 2013 the Federal Government has instituted The PNPD/CAPES – CAPES National Post-doctoral Program, which provides fellowship quotas to support post-doctoral research studies in outstanding Post-graduation programs in Brazil, and has the following objectives:
- promote conditions for high-level studies;
- reinforce national research groups;
- renewal of the crew of Post-Graduation Programmes in National Research and/or Teaching Institutions;
- promote the enrollment of Brazilian and foreigner researchers in a post-doctoral traineeship, and stimulate their integration with research projects developed by the Post-Graduation Programmes over the country.
The quality of the projects developed and the faculty of the Program has attracted doctors interested in performing the Postdoctoral Program.
Our program maintains one CAPES type-A fellowship quota, which provides up to 60 month stipends to Brazilian and resident foreign grantees. Grantees cannot have other working positions and should dedicate their whole time to research and teaching in UFU. The PNPD/CAPES grants also include a limited allocation that can be used for research. The stipends of R$ 4.100,00 are paid monthly directly to the grantee. Post-doctoral candidates are selected at irregular basis, pending on available quotas. Selection calls are depicted in the Program web page and commonly include a research project and curriculum vitae evaluation.
